UMPIRING

Umpires are an essential part of Moe & District Netball Association. Without umpires, we simply cannot run our games. They play a vital role in ensuring matches are conducted fairly, safely and in accordance with the rules of netball. We value the contribution of every umpire and recognise the important role they play in providing players with the opportunity to participate, develop their skills and enjoy the game.

We are committed to supporting the development of umpires at all levels. We encourage players and members of our netball community to consider umpiring as an opportunity to develop confidence, communication, decision-making and leadership skills while making an important contribution to our association.

Umpire Requirements

​​

To umpire at M&DNA, all umpires must meet the relevant registration and child safety requirements. Umpires are required to have a valid Working with Children Check and current VNA registration. They must also be registered to M&DNA through Netball Connect. These requirements help ensure our association maintains a safe, professional and well-organised environment for our players, officials and volunteers.

Umpire Mentor Program

​

Our Umpire Mentor Program is an important part of supporting aspiring umpires as they develop their knowledge, confidence and skills. Our mentors, Kerry and Kerrie, work alongside developing umpires to help them understand the rules of netball and, importantly, learn how to apply those rules within a live game.

The program provides umpires with guidance and encouragement as they learn how to read the play, make decisions, communicate effectively and confidently control a game. Mentors help umpires understand that mistakes are part of learning and provide constructive feedback to support their continued development.

The progression of our umpires is extremely important to the future of M&DNA. By investing in developing umpires and providing them with positive support, we are helping to build a strong pathway for officials within our association. We want our umpires to feel valued, supported and confident as they continue to develop.

Our games cannot happen without our umpires. We are incredibly grateful to all those who volunteer their time to umpire and to Kerry and Kerrie for the time and expertise they provide through our mentor program. Their contribution is essential to the ongoing success and growth of M&DNA.
